Leaves

We love the leaves that blow in clouds across the roads in Autumn's gusts and gales
Like snow against the cool bright sky they fall down fast and heavy
A blizzard of colour, drifts of red gold and green line the pavements
And the fields and gardens lie beneath a gentle blanket,
Warmer than snow,
A target for walkers who jump and kick
and kick
and kick
and clouds of leaves fly up

and settle again,

Still and quiet.

The first few leaves of Autumn seem to dance across the roads
And gaily swirl in front of cars
Oblivious of our passing,
Unless, at times, they join the mood
And eddies form aside and run along and
Play and dance till left behind they
Rest

A moment.....
….... before they start the dance again.

Single too, they can inspire.
A solitary survivor in early Spring,
Clinging on, all shriveled and ill,
But clinging on, against the odds,
Determined like an aged grandmother in waiting,
To see the new born grandchild before I go,
Lets go when the first green of Spring
Is safely on the branch.
Slowly
drifting
down
A spiral, a spin,
A rise, a fall, and
one last pirouette
before the she joins the ground and all her aged generation
Redundant now and brown
And damp
Turning back into earth
Giving back life
To those above.

This is where we were when England won The Ashes 2009

Sat at Caldy with the rain coming along the Estuary, listening to Radio4 LW in the car!

Wagon load

Greatly inspired by Bruce's Birdwater & Raspberry Railway - here is NGR's latest - as bogie flat with a seasonal load. I have finally got around to turning up the axles for the wheels I made weeks ago, so this just needs a bit of paint and a chain and we have a wagon!

Now for the loco...

Coal boiler #1

Almost ready to be soldered up - vertical coal fire boiler #1 and that whiskey again...

A wee dram and a few big jars

Here's Henderson and one of the workshop boys with "the smallest bottle of whiskey in the world" - a little large for 16mm but... and a set of real glass jars of fragrant incense oils for burners... or as interesting wagon loads maybe?
