Wren broach

Made from a 1946 farthing, a copy of one made for a friend's grandmother by her beau, and now the subject of a video documentary.

Box of progress

Some good news from Talbot Works - this little box contains 5 gunmetal boiler bushes and 2 split big ends (one complete) for the de Winton "Mitchell"

This represents some good progress and the Works are confident that more will follow....!

A slice of heaven

This is the view from our room in The Queen's Arms, Corton Denham. The title says it all.

Rain at the Hop Farm

Gilly, Ann & Jim dressed appropriately for the rain at Neil Young's Hop Farm gig - Sunday 6th July 2008. We struggled with the wind blowing the sound away but it was a fine performance from Neil.

Summer on the line

Big job breaks out - all hands to the pump!

Blue sheets everywhere as we try and bed the liners down for the source (beyond a puzzled looking John), the stream and the pond.....

Looking downstream towards the pond.

Meanwhile the Project Manager snoozes the day away.

Before long we have a pond and a fountain playing,

... and a stream flowing.

The source is now in place - our Indian goddess sits and watches over the stream, and the line.

The answer is ...

Fencing for vigorous plants. If you avoid glue, the posts can be adjusted in situ, but take care the whole thing may ping!

Waiting for a train

Stirring stuff

More ideas for these useful things, but can you tell what it is yet?

Welcome to the first post of a new blog -taking advantage of a new camera phone Folking About will be able to post all the news as it happens!

So to kick off here is Driver Henderson trying out a new bogie flat wagon, delivering a Lonicera tree in a giant pot to it's new site on the Ness Graden Railway. This short train is just passing the smallest of our new acers on the left. Billy the cat is along for the ride as usual, but seems to have forsaken the footplate for Henderson's lap!
